The CEO-Only Zone
There are three pages I recommend the CEO does not delegate to their team.
What is (Your Company Name)?
Here are all the answers to questions like…
Who are you?
Why does your company exist?
How did your company get started?
What do you sell and why?
Why would the world miss your company if you were gone?
Mission, Vision, Values
Why do you exist, where you want to go, and who thrives at your company?
If you were to take one person at your company as a representation, what is unique about them that allows them to earn the promotions they've been earning?
Drop everything your employees need to understand about your mission, vision, and values in this page of the wiki.
These are all questions for you to answer and create within this page. Tell everyone about the company culture — is this a safe place to experiment? What is your work life balance like? How is your team communicating with each other in terms of the language you use? This is an exercise to help you write these values, expected behaviors, and guidelines for working and communicating with each other.
Company Goals
There’s two versions of this page in the Wiki:
- A simple checklist, allowing you to see all the big picture goals for each team
- A database, which offers a high level view where you can sort by different factors.
The database allows you to sort by theme, owner of the goal, timeline, priority, and capacity. The more you fill this out, the easier it'll be for you to have a high level, single page overview of all of your company goals.
If you were to pop into some of these goals, you’ll find that there are a couple of included templates when you are inserting new goals.
Each template is completely editable, and you can delete and restart at anytime. These templates allow you to maintain a standard of excellence and cover every base for your company’s goals.
Other Goal Specifics
If you already have this information on hand and people are responsible for specific goals or key results, add them in the page.
Frequency: How often are you going to check on your goal?
Owner: Who owns this goal?
Category: What part of your business is responsible for this goal?
Priority: What's the priority level?
Even if you have five people at your company, this is a really helpful way to get everyone on the same page and learning at the same rate. Plus, you’ve made people publicly responsible (and accountable) for a stated goal.
